Perhaps the gems gain EXP. as they kill enemies, and the upgrading can be kept simple. :/

  But thats what i HATE about gem craft, the upgrading of gems.

  Nawz, I'm pretty sure MARc wants to make this like gemcraft. D:

Hmm... wait, maybe, instead of amount of gems, it's refinement? :/

E.G. Wind tower costs a lvl. 5 earth gem. :/

  Maybe you can have many diferent tower types,
and gems are like money, like a wind tower would cost 5 fire gems, 5 water gems and 3 earth gems.

  Well, actually, perhaps there's hope yet... :/

If red gems are fire gems, green gems are earth gems and blue gems are water gems, then there are many fusion possibilities

Fire + water = steam

fire + earth = ?

water + earth = mud

fire + fire = refined fire

water + water = refined water

earth + earth = refined earth

it seems to make sense. :P

  I think you should just give up on the idea of gems...

Gem craft was the most boring game ever, because combining gems for hours is not fun.
Unless you completely change the game play, this would just end up a cheap rip off of a already bad game.

  right, im making a function to fuse(combine) gems, should I make the new gem stats the sum of the old ones or something else?

  Cant you just stick it in the base? Ill make a slot in the corner of the base for a gem.
