  you didnt link the input field to a variable...

[edit] given that you could need to re-arrange formula, why not take this challenge:
make a simple program that takes inputs a,b,c for the formula ax+b=c and works out x
for example, a=2,b=4,c=10...2x+4=10...x=3

by that, I mean correcting and scripting ;D
just so you know, never do addition with strings when doing math stuff(like calculator), because either one or both are strings it adds one to the end of the other...useful in some circumstances...

  when using input boxes you cant read the text value of it, instead you have to set the variable parameter in the properties of the input box...

[edit] btw I suspect the problem may be that you didnt multiply the values by 1
flash always acts this way, it assumes the values to be strings, thus doing math has...unexpected results
