  5 people :P

  Gameinsky is correct!

Next question:

43 people get on a bus. On the first and second stop, the same amount of people get off. On the third stop, 12 people get off. On the fourth stop, 7 people get on. On the fifth stop, half of the remaining people get off. There are now 14 people on the bus. How many people got off on the first stop? (2 points)

  Will a straight flush also be counted as a flush?? If not, the calculation will be more difficult.
gameinsky 9 years ago
  12/51 * 11/50 * 10/49 * 9/48 = 0.00198079231

  Oops! Yes, I wrote that wrong :|

Older than 40, less than 20. Don't know how I messed that up :|

New question: Five cards of a standard 52 card deck are put into a bag. What is the probability that it is a flush? (3 points)

  I can't even properly determine John's age in the first equation. I got something that makes him younger than Carl, but the question clearly states Carl is the youngest.
Treazer 9 years ago
  It won't work as dingdong said; if Carl would be 11, Tom would be 13 and thus John would be 26 years old (younger than 40).
If Carl is 33, Tom is 35 and John 70 (older than 60).
So the only thing left is assuming Carl is 22. Tom would be 24 and John 48 (works fine so far). Now, Dave is 46, but also 31.

  Timetravellers. Or liers.

  Correct Dingdong!

Next question:
If John is two years older than Dave, Dave is seven years older than Tom, Tom is half of John's age, and Carl is two years younger than Tom, how old are they if Carl's age is a multiple of 11 and John is less than 60, but older than 40? (2 points)

  4/3. .
AK 9 years ago
  It IS 37! All 3-digit numbers can be expressed as 37*3*x, where x is 1-9.

Next question:
What is the slope of this line? y - x = 4 + 7x - 5y? (2 points)
dingdong 9 years ago
  42! No, that is not a prime.

I'm not completely sure I get the question, but 37.
Because 111=3*37 and the other fitting numbers are a single digit times that.

  Oops!

One point for Gameinsky, PineappleDude, and demonicyoshi!

Next question: What is the largest prime divisor of every 3-digit number with 3 identical non-zero digits? (3 points)

  a=2
b=3
c=6

Final answer
PineappleDude 9 years ago
  a=2
b=3
c=6
:-)
demonicyoshi 9 years ago
  A= 2
B= 4
c= 4
AK 9 years ago
  True, but that isn't the only ordered pair. There's two more. +1 for you!
gameinsky 9 years ago
  since a <= b <= c that means they're all allowed the be equal.
The answer is that all of them have the value 3.
AK 9 years ago
  I think I'd love to keep doing this!

Next question:
What are all 3 ordered triples of integers (a,b,c), with 0 < a <= b <= c, for which 1/a + 1/b + 1/c = 1?
(3 points)

  Depends who wants to do math...
I have an idea for topics like this, you could try to find people that want to help you maintain it, you quote a message of theirs and they can edit it, which will change the text in the first post.

  Would it be a good idea to revive this game in a new topic by an active member?

  7 People. The driver, the ticket collector, the 4 people and a drunkard that sleeps in the bus since last night.
TTT-_- 12 years ago
  the correct answer is 42. the end.

ON a side note:
oh. so, a bus pulls up to its first stop of the day, and four people get on. How many people are on the bus at that point?
AK 12 years ago
  Got it. Thanks, and updated.
manufan 12 years ago
  Exactly. :) Britain went metric in 1971, and before that it was extremely complicated...
AK 12 years ago
  Oh, so one pound is 100 pence?
