Yes, Manufan's now re-making the game, but play away at this version for now, create levels galore - have some fun! :)

Remaking is not just changing the code, it's starting from scratch again. But come to chat please, so I can explain some stuff.

Oh great news, we don't need to trash all the [sarcasm] fantastic [/sarcasm] levels! It is laziness. If you get bugs while remaking the game, fix them and don't give up.

No, it is not laziness. I have consistently been getting errors from remaking the code, whereas this one only has a few bugs to squash (one has been done already [Death Bricks]). Also, yes, it's great news because we don't need our levels trashed.

And besides, I'm the programmer here. :P

I would suggest to completely trash all officials and to rework the editor before appointing any new ones.
And as treazer pointed out, that's not great news, that's just lazyness.

I've scrapped the remake, let's continue, but I'll need to work my socks off! :P

(Also, please all retake your thumbnails if they display the old graphics [I'll set them to be edited, unless they're official]).

Treazer I was experimenting with the editor and made some random levels, a couple of them were officialised.

Sorry I haven't told many of you, but I am indeed updating the game (though it's taking longer than usual [school :O]). During this time, many levels will be trashed! (Sorry for the inconvenience guys, but, yes your levels will be zapped into thin air! :P)

Personally I'd aim towards allowing free placing of bricks, but that's advanced stuff...

I have another suggestion since you're redesigning this, please make the bricks smaller.
6- 7 bricks per row doesn't allow for much variation, I'd aim towards 15-20.

Sherlock, it is. "Play" buttons in game usually open the menu interface. Same here.

Remake in Progress

Hey everyone. (Long time no see... about 18 months)

Posting here to answer a few questions so that it's clear where this game is going, and so no question remains unanswered thanks to my inactivity (that's the aim anyway).

Why were you inactive?

I was inactive because I just finished my GCSE's (secondary school qualifications for those outside of the UK) and am studying for my A-Levels (college-level qualifications) in order to prepare to study Computer Science at university. The workload is harder, plus my social life is also changing so I'm finding little time to come here anymore.

Are you back?

Most likely no. I mean I'll come on now and again to see how things are getting on, but like I say, I'm quite busy at the moment.

So, Astro Breaker is just a dead game?

As you may remember me mentioning just before my inactivity, I was in the process of remaking the game using ActionScript 3.0. Astro Breaker can help me in terms of constructing a portfolio of my work in terms of progressing with Computer Science, and so I will continue to develop the remake - at least, that is my intention.

The remake will include a level editor and if it's all figured out, I will make the game BL Compatible. In terms of moderating levels, I'm sure a solution can be figured out down the line - maybe I will lead, maybe someone else will - we shall cross that bridge when we come to it.

Hope I've managed to clear everything up. Was great to come on here and see the progress that's been made, especially with the release of Simon's new game (Congrats). Best wishes to all. :)

Features

Bricks can be any colour dependent on Level Data (in code, so you can't really visualise this).

Types of Brick are:
- Normal (with strength stated on brick when > 1)
- Bomb (destroys all 8 bricks around it)
- Railball Powerup (ball does not rebound off bricks)
- Speed[+/-] Powerup

Any suggestions would be welcome in a PM. Any updates and I will update the link and notify you.
