And you need 5 to kill. --------------------------- What makes a good level? --------------------------- First and foremost, a good level should be fun to play. You yourself should enjoy playing the level you've made. Personally, I find the best levels are the ones that require the player to think about to beat them. They shouldn't involve "run and gun" methods of typical zombie games (although I do make exceptions if a certain level is extremely well done) but rather they should make the player have to stop and plan things out a bit. A good level doesn't lag, but runs quickly and smoothly on most computers. A good level operates more on skill than it does on luck. Although, if used correctly, luck based challenges can be an indicator of skill. If switches are in a level, they are used effectively. There should be no switches leading off to pointless places, or removing walls that don't have to be removed. Each and every switch should serve a purpose. A good level is unique. Rehashing of old ideas can make for fun levels, but it won't make a very interesting level. You can make a good level by reusing ideas, but great levels are made by coming up with new ones, or using old ones in a completely new way. If text is used, it is well executed. There should be as little grammatical and spelling errors as possible. I understand that many of you don't speak english as a first language, and if this is the case, say so! If your level is really good, I'll be happy to fix some of your grammar for you, and sometimes, I'll even ask to. A good level is neat and tidy. Every tile is in it's place for a purpose, there aren't random blocks out to the side that serve no purpose. Everything in the level looks orderly and serves a purpose. So, a quick recap in handy-dandy list form, level should be: -interesting -not laggy -not ENTIRELY luck based -switches are used well, when used -unique -text is as grammatically correct as possible, when used -tidy _________________________________________ I'll add in this post, that there are a few things that, if they are in your level, I'll make you edit it: -if your thumbnail is from the editor -zombies in 1x1 boxes (causes tons of lag) -unnecessarily crude images or text -if it's just REALLY poorly made -impossible You should say it on the level itself ^^ I want ot know what is looked for in a level because it probably be different from what jp is looking for in Rolling Turtle | Games forumPlay Game "Captain Dan v Zombie Plan"First post of the topic |
