  @Ahroo: Well, 1024x1024 would be better, as games usually works with numbers, that's powers of 2 (This means 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 and so on).

@DY: Yes, but I prefer logo screens such as Push's, actually showcasing an example of a world.

  well, its only the logo page, you have to remember that the main menue goes on this page.

  @DY: Well, the problem is that a solid color looks too plain. If you were able to make the background a world (Possibly animated), such as my example world, or Sillius' background, that would be great. If that's too much work, then just remove the blocks in the background, and I'll make a background myself.


@Ahroo: Nope, but according to Marc, you can make it any size you want. So just go wild, and make it as big as you bother.

  now i need to try a lvl bg, since its side scroling, it has to be loopable but long enough so its not too repetative.

And my image is already in gif format, but i can easily change the white. What color would you like?

EDIT: GREEN BG (looks the best of the colors i tested)

  I'm not a big fan of the white background, behind the blocks, but if you give me a .gif with a plain white background, I can crop as I want.

  Heres another version of the bg (still in gif format) im only going o convert it if you absolutly will use it, because i need to download format factory to convert it.

  I think you shouldn't try to make a platformer, I consider it out of my depth and i've used flash for over a year...

  Ahroo, I think having multiple sizes blocks is death for anyone inexperienced(I cant spell the word that means "not pro" lol)
it's hard enough for one size :S

  Since i actually kept the photoshop file, changing the picture will be quite easy.

Ill have another version of it soon...

  birjo would then have to implement a "pixel perfect" tile placing method
far easier to have tile-based for now(not tile based if not on grid)

  Life got in the way, that's why I couldn't make one on demand. :_

Sillius's design COULD work well in-game... if zoom was discarded. :p

  btw I should mention putting swf and gif files into flash is a pain...
for me when putting swf 1 in swf 2 both with AS2 swf 1 just fails badly
gifs just dont work, they make loads of pics in the library and its annoying

If you want to do a start background, great.
If you want to do a level background, great.

I really like your start background, even though I'm not a fan of the squares :/
If you could somehow make it a bit more related to the game (Yes, I know these are made to imitate pixels) that would be great!

And a .swf file is always welcome :D

  Pixelized - Official Thread


What is Pixelized?

Pixelized is a future game, currently being developed by birjolaxew. It's in the development state, and - due to different obstacles - it won't be released to the public before 2011. It will probably go into testing state early-middle 2011.

What's the gameplay?
In Pixelized, the current idea is that you - the player, will be a small pixelated man trapped in a block world. Carrying specific blocks with you (Each block acting it's own way) you'll have to build your way through puzzles. A great example of the whole block concept can be found in the 3D game "Minecraft". Notice, that details can change during the development.

What have you done by now?
As of 17/11/10, I'm fiddling with the BL API, Flash and the basic game. I'll upload a "game" soon, but it won't be actually playable, and therefore I wont add any testers.

What blocks will be included?
A list of the blocks currently planned:
Dirt (Affected by gravity)
Stone (Not affected by gravity)
Mud (Not affected by gravity - Created by dirt blocks, directly touching water)
Ice (Not affected by gravity - Slippery, only available in winter mode)
Snow (Affected by gravity)
Sand (Affected by gravity - Found near bigger areas of water)
Gravel (Affected by gravity - Created by stone blocks, directly touching water)
Undestroyable (Used to block of parts of the level - Can't be placed/mined)

Where will it be released?
Right here, on BonusLevel.
