Topic, Game "Jump Gear 2"

  I don’t know if there’s any great general tips for getting quicker in this game. A lot of it comes down to playing a lot. In general I think consistency is the most underrated factor in this game. Do not try anything that has a stupidly low success rate if you expect to be able to demonstrate good skill. Learning to be able to consistently do things slowly will allow you to push for a more skilful and quicker run with more ease.

In general, to attack a level you want to plan out your strategy:
Which tricks will you use?
What does an ideal run look like?
What is an ideal score with such an ideal run (this estimation will improve over playing)?
When you have planned the level, you want to build up to it by starting off with a more basic strategy and slowly introducing tricks. It is highly unlikely that you will be able to master any of these levels within 5-10 minutes, it may take many sessions to master one level to begin with, but I assure you it will get easier.

I found that even when I had mastered only a few levels (both Orbitals, Swirls and Curls highscores etc.) - I had improved from barely scratching 7M to 8M being a reasonable objective. From 8M to 9M was more of the same but I should point out that all three of those highscores I mentioned had been improved further (41,841, 20,090, 40,099 to 42,055, 20,529, 41,343). The reality is a perfect run is never doable, and if you can still improve your best scores, I think it is fully worth it - not because of the few hundred point you may gain, but to maximise your skill and potential!

  I don't come here often, this game is not enjoyable for me, most of the time I get trainer mode, so I'm not very skilled here. @CG52: can you give me some advice on how to be a faster Jump Gear driver?

  Well I think it's time for me to surrender here, I will very seldomly play this game, just don't have the patience anymore. Plus taking care of my health/family is important and first and foremost. So my time is more valuable now.

  I am working on the odd level - but I feel like it will get a bit boring if only my levels get released as they're pretty tricky and all of a very similar style. It'd be very cool to see other levels - and I'm always happy to evaluate any. If I miss some, please do PM me. (If it's been week or at the least 3 days - please let me know!)

  So, what's in store for this game in the next few years? JP hasn't been here in a year so GIS can only add new officials. I would like to see maybe 4-5 new levels someday, maybe. Who agrees?

  Hey man, congrats!! It's been awesome seeing you push yourself so hard for these scores, I'm glad you could hit one more milestone! Hope to see you stick around in some capacity should the site ever find an audience again!

  9.2M. A goal I genuinely thought wasn't even possible after my 9.1M - I'm not even sure what motivated me for this one. Seeing it was so close to being at least possible in theory was a big one, (well the total of highscores was just shy of it). I was never really going for it until I reached 9.18M myself as like I said - this is an unexpected milestone, and I'm confidently saying my final milestone ever. This game now has almost no activity which means almost certainly no new officials, and 9.3M just doesn't seem to be there at all. 9.25M is a goal which could be there, but that would require holding likely 130+ highscores, and I know that I just don't quite have that in me. 9.2M with about 100 highscores is something I am proud of achieving in this game.

I guess this is the end of my journey on the officials! I'm honestly not sure where to go from here. I will likely take a break from officials, but after that, there isn't a whole lot left for me to do in this game - except push for higher scores on individual levels I think. I want to say a massive thanks to everyone who shaped this game into what it is, a great - although sadly almost dead these days - community of players who create some epic levels and stories along the way. I'm hopeful that if this game were to get converted to a more convenient language that there could be (at least for a short while) a BL renaissance, and although I see it as unlikely, I would love to see more players step up if/when they manage to find a workaround and push these games further and further! It's definitely saddening how it ended - as it feels like a Dynamo vs. PineappleDude 9M race was coming up!

Once again - thanks to everyone who has shaped the BL community over the past 14 years, it's been one of my favourite communities that I've been involved in, and nothing is quite like it to me. Good luck to anyone who plays for highscores, or for a great global score!

  I don't remember entirely what caused this back when flash worked, I think there was some checkbox that if you clicked it it would remove all your locals. I'm not sure what the equivalent is now, or if there's a way to get the back...

  my local levels just disappeared- does anyone else have this issue? I had some actual great levels but all were unfinished

  JP could deactivate accounts, but nuking them is just as sufficient and even if IP bans could be done, there's always the option of a VPN

I think that the death of flash has had the one good consequence that even the most persistent of nuisances can't keep being motivated forever, and as far as I'm aware, she hasn't returned in months.

  Nice comeback Laders, yes greyanna is showing bad traits here, I wish BL can ban people that cause trouble and mayhem here but I don't think you can permanently ban people. Even GIS and Elizea can't, all they do is delete the comments.

  I have no idea who they are. They seem to have stopped though. I managed to remove everything from the games that I could (Jump Gear 2 and Astrobreaker), but they seem to have posted a ridiculous amount of messages elsewhere so it isn't too unlikely that there are hundreds left.

Anyway, welcome back hopefully! Things have been going pretty well, steadily creating more levels. Hopefully at some point I'll release another one here but I will warn you that it is likely going to be quite hard!

  Thanks for the update Dynamo. Yeah, it's been hectic for us the past 6 months. I went to the hospital in May and stayed a week. They had to give me six units of blood to get my lab values back to normal, I was real sick. Recently, my grandpa had a nervous breakdown when he went to go make a deposit for us, so he may have to live with us so i've been worried about that. Keep you all updated soon!

  Hi Dynamo, good to see that you are doing well and congratulations on the promotion! I have definitely become busier over the years, and I will often only play for at most 30 mins on days that I play. I remember 2-3 years ago that we would be able to pump hours into the game, but times change. I am glad that you are making the steps towards knowing where you want to go in life, I certainly have no clue what I'll be doing even 5 years in the future. It would be awesome to see you able to return to playing BL if you ever manage to get flash set up!

  Hi Chris, I actually dropped out of university a while ago now to reevaluate my life. I was embarrassed at the time, but now I realise that I might have rushed into things, partly because I grew up with parents who practically insisted that I go, and partly because it was what my friends were doing. I never took the chance to reflect on what I wanted. I still don’t know what I want to do with my life, but that’s okay. I’ve recently been promoted to management at my job and that pretty much takes up most of my time now. I’m glad you had a fantastic birthday Chris and I hope you’re keeping well, that goes for everyone else too! I hope I can get flash setup again one day soon. BL was always a safe place to help me think, and always will be.

  I guess Dynamo is busy with university and plain life/responsibilities, so how are you guys doing? Still trying to find a way to get flash so I can play again. I turned 30 a month ago, had a terrific birthday party. Played video games and ate snacks/cake. So good!

  Hey, welcome back! I believe you still have 1 highscore on this game. it's always good to see people return after a while away, just slightly unfortunate considering what has recently happened with Flash.

  Wow... I didn't realize this was a flash game, I know that seems dumb but I found this game as a kid and just thought of it as permanent. I'll definitely have to look into some work arounds and make sure I still have a highscore or two on some of the levels. assuming that coolguy52 didnt take them all on his way to jumpgear domination lol. lots of great memories on heree.I wish everyone the best and I'm glad to be a part of this community.

  Well we'll always post in the forums and talk, stay in touch in the chatroom but what to do about all our levels and scores is a mystery to me.

  What in the name of sweet fuckery has just happened? No words for this accomplishment, just feel like a proud dad watching his son ride a bike for the first time, may even shed a lil tear later! A score once thought to be a mere theory in the wind, brought to reality by none other than the God himself. Insane stuff. :’D

At least I still managed to retain a few of my highscores lol, honestly thought you would end up steamrolling through all my best ones but my *almost perfect* runs held strong! xD

EDIT: None of these workarounds for flash are working for me, and I don’t want to abandon BL completely, idk what to do :(

  Well here we are. 9.1M. The final ever milestone (most likely). I am completely sure that no new officials will ever be added to this game, and I doubt that 9.2M is quite there yet (defo not for me). This marks the end of my 3 year long journey on the global leaderboards on this game. Having achieved 9.1M now I suppose I could play different packs or other games, but the main thing I want to do is one final highscore count to see where the total score is at. I am really curious to see where we have got to as a community. I will post the results of the count in an edit to this comment.

I said most of what I'd say now in my 9M message, but this is honestly crazy. It may seem insignificant, but I have been going for this score ever since I got 9.05M a few months ago. Feels completely surreal to finally have it. Thank you all for harbouring such a community and now though it is essentially dead, I'm glad I can complete my journey with the last milestone.

EDIT: Calculated after a few recent highscores on the 18/05/21 - ~3pm BST (Most recent highscore was 46623 on Mini-ramps (Jump Gear 2)

Global Highscore: 9190799 (there may be some errors in this calculation as I did it manually using a calculator, not automatically with a spreadsheet etc.)
